Each friend who signs up with your code earns you a month.
The beta is free. Everyone who signs up gets one free month at launch.
GMs get a referral code. Every person who signs up with yours earns you one more free month, up to 12 months. A player counts when they sign up; a GM counts when they make their first one-shot.
Free months are a launch promotion, not a payment. How you use them is set when pricing is. Referral terms

Is the beta free? What does “1 month free” mean?
The beta is free. Everyone who signs up gets one free month at launch. There is no pricing yet; your free months are recorded with your sign-up for launch.
Who can sign up?
Anyone 13 or older, as a GM or as a player. During the beta we only send service emails: your code, your invite and your free month.
Do my players need an account or the app?
No. Players join on the web through a QR code or a 6-character room code, give a display name, and choose or build a character.
Which phones does it run on?
The GM beta uses an iPhone app through external TestFlight. Players join in their phone browsers; the app is optional for them.
Does the AI run the game?
No. AI prepares the adventure before play. A human runs the table. No AI is used at the table.
What do you store about me, and can I leave?
Your sign-up keeps what your sign-in provider shares with us (an account id and, usually, your email), your role and your referral details. You can delete it at any time from the welcome page or on Delete my data. The privacy notice has the details.
